Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about fractional CTO engagements with WazoTek in Hong Kong.
What does a fractional CTO or senior advisor actually do?
Senior judgment and leadership support for cloud, data, and AI decisions, without the cost of a full-time hire. That can mean architecture reviews, vendor evaluation, roadmap planning, team guidance, and help on the calls that matter.
How is this different from hiring a full-time CTO?
You get senior experience without the cost and commitment of a permanent hire. It works well when you need strategic technical leadership but not someone in the seat full-time, or when a major decision benefits from an outside voice.
How is this different from a software agency or contractor?
WazoTek focuses on advisory, decision support, and oversight, not hands-on delivery or staff augmentation. We help you decide, evaluate options, challenge vendor proposals, and set direction. If something needs building, we help structure the work and pick partners, but your team or those partners do the execution.
What kinds of Hong Kong companies are the best fit?
Companies that need senior judgment on cloud, data, or AI but do not have that expertise in-house. Often SMEs, growth-stage companies, or established businesses modernizing technology. Best fit is leadership teams facing decisions where getting it right really matters.
How do engagements usually begin?
Most start with a Diagnostic Sprint: a fixed-scope look at a specific challenge such as cloud cost, architecture, or an AI roadmap. That gives you something useful before you commit to ongoing work. Many companies then move to a monthly advisory retainer or deeper fractional involvement. See engagement models.
Are implementation services included?
No. WazoTek focuses on advisory and oversight, not hands-on execution. When something needs to be built, we help define requirements, evaluate vendors or contractors, and oversee delivery. Your team or chosen partners do the implementation.
How is pricing determined?
A typical Diagnostic Sprint runs 2-3 weeks as a fixed fee. Advisory retainers are a fixed monthly fee. Fractional leadership is scoped by how involved you need someone to be and for how long. Exact fees are confirmed after a short diagnostic call so scope and fit are clear.
Where are you based and who do you work with?
WazoTek is based in Hong Kong and focuses on Hong Kong companies and leadership teams. That means the same time zone, local context, and in-person support when it helps.
